Air traffic has been significantly affected by Covid-19, as virtually all air traffic services at airports have been suspended for an unknown period of time. This also has impacts on the local air quality conditions at Zurich Airport (Switzerland) where a traffic reduction of >90% has been recorded. A temporary study aims at analyzing the effects on emissions and local concentrations for selected air pollutants, while at the same time considering the change in activities and road traffic around the airport as well. Situations of similar meteorological conditions will be analysed. The study aims at assessing the air traffic contributions to local air quality effects. It will be published later this year.
